This pack system withstood a two day hike in last year with a 65lbs of kayak and gear. At first I was skeptical that it would hold given the thin straps and fastex, but felt very secure, was easy to get on and off, and was as comfortable as can be carrying a heavy kayak and gear for two days. The placement of the straps allowed for easy adjustment of the kayaks height above the ground. Lower and stable for exposed areas but high off the ground so the boat was not hitting the ground on steep descents. It also pack much more compactly and made better then the NRS pack. I think that is is worth the added price.
The Bak Yak Kayak Backpack is the industry standard for carrying your boat long distances in total comfort. It's been used to access many first descents throughout the world. Harness constructed of nylon pack cloth, closed cell foam padding and webbing straps allow for ease of carry. Take care of your back and spine during the hike... you’ll need it for your first descent!
