Some pfds come with built in whistles that can break or aren't very loud. A quality whistle is a must for anyone on the river. The Fox 40 is loud, reliable and will last forever too.

Absolute necessity on the river. This one doesn't have the little ball which can get wet and cause other whistles to lose their sound. The Fox 40 works excellently even when wet.
