Some History: The All-Star won the world championships. Yes, EJ was paddling it, but there is more to that story that really shows that the All-Star was champion of the world! When EJ arrived at the world championships people liked the look of the Stars right off, but only mild interest in the boat. After Peter, Jake, Emily, and EJ started paddling the boat and more athletes showed up, suddenly athletes from around the world were interested in trying one. EJ doesn’t lend his “worlds boat” out so Emily, Stephen Wright, and Devon Barker became the demo people. It always started off with, “That Star sure looks easy to throw around, or “is it you or the boat that makes it loop so high?”. Then, whether EJ liked it or not, they would paddle one. One by one in the first few weeks EJ was there, the best athletes from countries all over the world would say, “when I get home I want to paddle the Star, or All-Star, or Super Star “(depending on their size). By the final week before the competition, there was a line of people waiting every time Stephen or Devon got off the water. They would have to ask who was first! Emily would complain to her Dad that every time she went to get in her boat, somebody had moved stuff around. Every company had their new boats there, but it was clearly the Star series of boats that was taking the interest of the worlds best paddlers by storm.
So what is the difference between the Classic Star Series and New 2007 Star Series?
The goal was to make the most affordable High Performance Kayak on the market.
• The Material: The Classic Series is now made of a super linear plastic, The same material that Wave Sport , Dagger, Liquid Logic use. The reason for this is simple- It is cheaper. Super linear plastic is the industry standard material but it is heavier and less durable than the cross Link plastic that is used in 2007 Star series.
• Outfitting: In order to keep the cost down, The classic series only comes with the minimum outfitting necessary to get on the water: Hip pads, Backband, and Foam Foot System. (Sweet Cheeks, Happy feet, sold separately)
