I had a similar experience with the soles wearing out. I have wide feet and these fit nicely, but walking on rocks is painfull and the outer layer of the soles is ripped up.
I like the design of these shoes but the stitching on mine fell apart within a couple of weeks after getting them. Some buddies of mine have the Teva Sling King's and they love them. I'd would go with those.
The soles on these fall apart quickly. In just a handful of playpark visits, I had to replace them, and went with something more durable. They work fine unless you do any walking with them.
The NRS Sasquatch Water Shoe is a low profile shoe that still provides protection for your feet. Size up if you are trying to decide on what direction to go on half sizes.
NRS's Sasquatch Water Shoe Features:
3-mm neoprene with titanium laminate adhesive keeps you warm and cushions against impact.
The neoprene cuff snugs above the ankle and the hook-and-loop instep strap locks your foot firmly in the shoe.
A 1.3-mm sole with a 2-mm plastic shim gives extra lateral support and good protection for the bottom of your foot.
The textured rubber sole provides grip and protection on the rough and tumble surfaces found while boating.
The sole rubber wraps the toe box, instep and heel for added impact protection.
