I'm going against the other reviews here but I have had fantastic luck with this knife. After several knives that fell out of their sheaths almost immediately, my pilot has stayed with me through several months of heavy boating. In my opinion a good dependable knife to carry while the search for the perfect river knife continues.

Awesome knife, Terrible sheath. I liked it at first since when you unclipped it, it sprung into your hand. didn't realize how easy that can happen in a rapid and lost it first time i rolled. its a good knife to have in your gear bag, not on your vest.
Two days on the river and already lost the knife. I can't say how well the knife works cause I never got to use it. The holder sucks. If you purchase this knife tie a lanyard on it to your vest. Maybe you will own it longer than I did.
The NRS Pilot Rescue Knife has unique design features that attract attention. The sheath provides convenient access and a sturdy release for the knife only when you need it most.
NRS's Pilot River Knife Features:
The cutting edge has both smooth and serrated sections plus a rope cutting hook.
The blunt tip design protects against unintentional puncture of your gear or yourself! Also doubles as a flat-head screwdriver.
The unique sheath firmly locks the knife in place and only lets it go when you squeeze both sides of the release.
The contoured handle and rubberized grip gives you maximum control of the blade.
The sheath clip attaches firmly to a PFD lash tab.
The handle has a built in glass breaking tip on the end.
Also included is a bottle opener in the handle of the knife.
