The Ronin has been deemed worthy! This is a super comfortable lifejacket with good flotation, easy harness system, and bomber construction. A good investment.

After paddling Astral jackets for the last six years, I recently used the Ronin Pro for a longer set of expedition style trips. While I still think that the Astral Jackets are great products, I think overall this jacket is much better. It is easier to take on and off, to adjust, it has much more floatation (great if you are going to paddle more then 500cfs), the tether and tow harness distributed the load much better then the green jacket and were much easier to use especially in a teaching or rescue situation. On top of all that, it seems that durability, as with everything Kokatat makes, is a step above everyone else. This is the best kayaking rescue jacket on the market.
The Ronin is an extremely well designed Rescue Vest, with its high neck and spinal protection and throw bag capable front pocket. All wile maintaining the slim and comfortable feel of a play boaters vest.

I like the two pockets in this PFD. Their is one top entry just below the reflective tape. Its huge. enough room for a camera, a river knife, sunscreen and a power bar.
The side entry pocket is the same size..bigger than you'd expect in a PFD. This pocket is so big it could hold about 6 to 8 powerbars or 2 prussics and biners to set up a z drag.

This is the vest for creeking and big water missions. Everything about this vest is about precision protection and construction. Indestructable seams and enough foam protection to protect the back and spine up to the neck. Side sliding foam panels protect your ribs, offering the the most complete coverage. The harness is interior and incorpoarted into the design. The river tow tether is 100% stowable so no exposed "loop" that can get hung up on a tree or any obstruction. The tow tether with this jacket is the fastest to repack and the quick release works great. Big water, Creeking, and teaching, this is a vest that protects and corals swimmer's boats like cowboy at a round up.

After years of being stoked on Kokatat drysuits, I finally needed a new PFD. It was an easy choice to stay with the Kokatat brand, especially after reading all of these rave reviews from excellent paddlers. Now it's time to add my rave review to the list below! The Ronin is iron clad durable with extra spine protection, front entry, huge pockets, excellent position for the knife tab, and comes with the best customer service in the industry. Like I said, easy choice.

Ive been using this vest for a year now after taking a burley swim in an old vest and not getting much flotation. If you want flotation the Ronin has it. It's a little stiff and bulky feeling at first but they once it's broken in...its great. Good size pocket to carry extra stuff like a couple slings and pulleys for a pin kit.
Kokatat's Ronin Pro PFD combines functionality and comfort. It's trimmed down profile and internal harness make it an ideal choice for whitewater and ocean paddlers.
