How many times have you found yourself on a scout without a rope and your buddy decides to just go ahead and drop in? Well with the Salamander Golden Retriever that will never happen again.
I have carried my Salamander Golden Retriever Throwbag with me religiously for the last 6-7 years and it has never failed me. This is the most convenient throw bag on the market. It is quick and easy to use. The throw bag fits perfectly around my waist under my rescue vest without limiting my mobility. Because you wear it, its always with me and I have used it to Z-drag thousands of pounds over and over again for pinned rafts and don't feel the structural integrity has been compromised at all.
Although safety classes teach not to throw a rope with a carabiner on the end of it, the tether with the biner pouch provides the perfect amount of weight to pull out the entire length of the rope for long throws. This also give the swimmer something to hang onto. This is perfect for rafters, play boater, river runners, sup's, or creekers. If you buy this once, you may never have to buy another again.

For the last five years this has been my primary throw bag and although I hardly wear around my waist while paddling--not since getting a rescue vest--it fits perfectly into the water bottle holder in the seat where it provides me with an EXTRA tow tether for all of my botched boat rescue needs.
Also, having a carabiner attached to one end has proved useful in a number of hair raising situations, and in its little stowaway pocket I don't worry about it nailing my potential rescue victims in the face.
Once, after pinning my boat in a serious boulder jumble on the Miracle Mile in Oregon, I used the eight foot tow tether to dislodge the bow, and then swam for shore as the throw bag let out slack. This throw bag seemed specifically designed for that maneuver, although I prefer to rescue other people with it.
