The Perfect Vacation is: …traveling to some place where the water is warm and there is an abundance of extra gear, boats, paddles, much of it just my size (so I would not have had to lug all that stuff on the plane). Then all my favorite people and I would paddle all day every day, eat too much at night, sleep like babies in hammocks by a raging river and wake up in the morning to do it all again.

Hobbies other than kayaking: running, raft racing, dog sledding, cross country skiing, knitting/crocheting, baking, reading, sport eating, animal husbandry, gardening.

Best day of paddling ever: They’re all so great, but I really do love warm water. The first time I went creeking with my buddies Ferdi and Greig stands out. We went down the Chirripo Pacifico and stayed that night in San Gerardo at this place right on the creek with hammocks and everything (just like in my perfect vacation). I swam through a portage on my second day down the creek and Ferdi named the rapid below it after me – “Sarah’s Shenanigans” so that’s pretty cool I have a rapid named after me – even though I swam and it kinda hurt because the creek is very fast and narrow.  Awesome river though, truly.
