Stand Up Paddling is here, it's hot, and it's everywhere. From lakes to rivers to oceans, if there's water you are likely to find a stand-up board on it. There are three main types of boards to choose from: inflatable, composite, and soft-top.
Inflatable SUP boards are great for rocky areas, they won't dent, and they tend to be pretty stable. They're easily transported, just unroll and fill with air. When you're done just roll them up and throw them in your vehicle.
Composite boards are foam cores, with high end resins and strong fiberglass material coating the outside. These are very stable, light, quick, and super efficient and fun to learn on. While they have hard tops, they come with deck pads for additional grip and provide comfort for your feet. You can also get deck dots for a larger traction area.
Soft top boards have a foam core with a slick skin top and bottom. The entire topside is covered with a large foam pad from tip to tail. These give the board a springy and soft feeling on top, and protection and performance on the bottom. These are very stable and durable, with a comfortable top that provides fun for hours.
Roto Molded boards are formed like kayaks and are made of plastic with air locked between the top and bottom layers. They are wide, buoyant, and very stable. They weight more than other SUPs, but the lower cost is a big attraction.
