I love this paddle. it has great power, and a really smooth feel. there is not too much bite, like on some other paddles. i particularly like using it with my play boat. it does a good job pulling the boat through eddylines, and powering it to where i want to go...

Worth the duckets it costs. This paddle provides for an unbelievably smooth stroke through the water. It has very minimal flex which helps translate all of your power into a stroke. The foam core blades float to the surface and make rolling a breeze.

I just started paddling with the Shogun from the revered Powerhouse. The Shogun is definitely stiffer and transfers power better. I love how the blades float a touch, which gives a better river sense, especially when unintentionally inverted. I still haven't had time to test the durability and would prefer brighter colors to assist with paddle recovery.
Flat out the best paddle you can buy. The Shogun has the strongest power face of any paddle I've ever used and is the best paddle for any river with ample flow. I would not use this paddle on shallow and rocky creeks if possible as it is just too valuable to risk damaging and seriously has more power than necessary for low volume runs.
The Werner Sho-gun Bent Shaft Kayak Paddle is the ultimate creek and river running paddle. The Shogun is the same shape as the Powerhouse but uses Werner's 'Performance Core' technology to create a paddle that feels weightless in the water. The larger, powerful blades are evenly balanced and powerful throughout every paddle stroke and are perfect for larger or well conditioned paddlers. The Neutral Bent Shaft allows for proper paddling ergonomics to give you the edge you need for that must make eddy or last minute boof stroke.
