As other reviewers have indicated, this is the guidebook to have for whitewater kayaking in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming. The aspects of this guide that standout from other books are the accurate difficulty ratings of runs (including at various water levels), the comprehensive coverage of every kind of run from class I-II float trips to class V+ steep creeks, and the excellent photos and stories that give context to the listed runs. Whether you are planning a trip to the Southwestern Rocky Mountains, live in one of these states, or just enjoy reading great river prose, you need this book.

The description says it all, this is THE guide to have for paddling in the Rockies. The authors did a great job so you can maximize your time on the quality runs in any region. There ratings on the difficulty of runs and on the correct water levels are spot on, and the best part they incorporate a quality rating of the run from 1 to 5 stars. My personal favorite part of the book is the beautiful pictures from the most beautiful and incredible places in the region.

If you plan on doing any kayaking in the southern rockies in the summertime, you should consider picking up a copy of this book. If you are a kayaker living in the southern rockies, you are crazy if you don't own this book. Good beta, great photos, and a cool index with maps and checklists to note your progress. I really like that almost every major run has a river level breakdown with the CFS or gauge reading and the nature of the runs at those levels. Very handy if your road tripping through the region and don't have a local to advise on water levels.

Best whitewater guidebook I've ever seen. The photos are phenomenal, the descriptions are well written and easy to follow, and it covers so many rivers. I also really enjoy the short stories that are found every so often. I can't wait to complete all of the runs in this book. Except for the west fork of clear creek. I'm never doing that one again.
Whitewater of the Southern Rockies is the New Testament to class I-V+ in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Wyoming. It covers 400 runs in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Wyoming. This is the most comprehensive catalog of class I-V+ kayaking and rafting sections ever compiled. There are three hundred full-page color photos, a user-friendly design, succinct river descriptions, and precise beta-boxes make this the whitewater guidebook of choice.
