What type of paddling do you like to do?
Multi-Day/Expedition, Whitewater Kayaking, Playboating, Whitewater SUP
Where is your favorite place to paddle?
I can’t think of one place to paddle, as with water it ebbs and flows throughout the changing of the seasons.
Being based on the SE I am biased, options of dam release and natural flow often give the fear of missing out. Regardless of whether it’s the steep slides of the Jocassee drainage or the big water push of the Cheoah, or the tight technical boulder gardens in the Smokies I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
Tell us about your favorite paddling experience or biggest paddling achievement.
Hands down, the double-double marathons on the Gauley River. 100miles of beautiful West Virginia whitewater, while waving to my friends in the paddling community twice each day. It sucked in the moment, but I cannot wait to do it again!
You're leaving for the Grand Canyon tomorrow. What is the one luxury item you packed for the trip?
Pour Over Coffee Sock and Coffee Bean grinder! Nothing beats freshly ground coffee in the morning in the GC!
What do you do when you are not on the river?
Coaching in my local CrossFit box, suffering on a mountain bike and staring at spreadsheets!
Final thoughts from Jonny
Stoked on life and always chasing a goal, I am always looking for ways to grow the sport and spread the stoke. There is not a better role in the industry for doing that than being the Buyer/eComm Manager for CKS Online!
I often feel as if I am living a dream, getting out on the water teaching, providing feedback on prototype products and chasing whitewater with friends. I look forward to sharing my love for the outdoors with my newborn daughter and reexperiencing the progression of life through her eyes.
